Breast Augmentation
Redefining Confidence with
Personalized Breast Enhancement
Breast augmentation is one of Dr. Yau’s most sought-after procedures, offering patients the chance to enhance their natural curves and achieve more balanced proportions. Whether it’s addressing changes following pregnancy or weight loss, correcting asymmetry, or simply wanting to feel more confident, breast augmentation can help you reach your aesthetic goals. Dr. Yau’s meticulous approach ensures that every patient receives results that align with their body, enhancing natural beauty while maintaining a refined and proportional look.
Choosing the Right
Implants For You
Breast implants are made of either silicone or saline, both with a soft silicone shell that ensures safety and longevity. Approved by Health Canada and the FDA, modern implants offer a natural feel and appearance. Silicone implants, filled with cohesive gel, have the added benefit of maintaining shape even if ruptured, while saline implants are filled with salt water that the body naturally absorbs if leakage occurs. During your consultation, Dr. Yau will guide you through the options to select the implant type that best suits your body and aesthetic desires.
Scar Placement and
Implant Positioning
Dr. Yau takes great care to place incisions in discreet locations to minimize visible scarring, either in the breast crease (inframammary) or along the edge of the areola (periareolar). Both techniques offer excellent results, and Dr. Yau will recommend the approach that best suits your anatomy.
Implants can be placed either behind the chest wall muscle (sub-muscular) or on top of the muscle (sub-glandular). Each placement has its benefits: sub-muscular placement may reduce the risk of capsular contracture and provide a more natural look, especially in patients with less breast tissue. Sub-glandular placement, on the other hand, avoids movement of the implant during muscle use and offers a shorter recovery time. Dr. Yau will work with you to determine the optimal placement based on your body type and aesthetic goals.
What to Expect During Your
Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast augmentation is typically performed under general anesthesia in an outpatient setting, allowing patients to return home the same day. The surgery takes approximately 2 hours.
During the procedure, Dr. Yau will create a carefully crafted pocket for the implant, ensuring it is positioned for the most natural and symmetrical appearance. Dissolvable stitches are used to close the incisions, allowing for a seamless recovery process.
Recovering After
Breast Augmentation
After surgery, patients may experience some soreness and fatigue for the first few days, but most are able to return to work within 7 to 10 days. A surgical bra is provided to minimize swelling and support the healing breasts.
Over the coming weeks, any swelling and discomfort will subside, and scars will gradually fade, revealing beautifully enhanced and natural-looking results.
By following Dr. Yau’s detailed post-operative care instructions, patients can enjoy long-lasting results that align with their body’s natural proportions.
