Liposuction

Achieve a Slimmer, More Sculpted Contour

Liposuction is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to target and remove stubborn areas of body fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise. Using a thin, hollow tube called a cannula, Dr. Yau expertly sculpts and refines problem areas to create a smoother, more contoured appearance. Liposuction can help you achieve a balanced, proportional body shape, enhancing your natural beauty and restoring your confidence. However, it’s important to understand that liposuction is not a weight loss solution, nor does it address cellulite or tighten loose skin.

Dr. Yau works closely with each patient to ensure they are ideal candidates for this procedure. The best results are achieved in individuals who are in good health, have localized areas of fat, and have skin with enough elasticity to maintain a smooth contour after fat removal. For patients with less elastic skin, liposuction can be combined with other procedures, such as a tummy tuck, to deliver optimal results.

The Liposuction

Procedure

Dr. Yau performs liposuction in a hospital or private surgical facility, typically on an outpatient basis. The procedure involves injecting a specialized solution containing saline, local anesthetic, and epinephrine into the targeted area. This solution helps firm the tissues and reduce blood loss by constricting the blood vessels. Dr. Yau then inserts the cannula through small, discreet incisions and moves it back and forth to loosen and remove excess fat. The fat is suctioned out through a vacuum system attached to the cannula, leaving the area slimmer and more refined.

Recovery From

Liposuction

Following liposuction, patients typically experience mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treated areas. A compression garment is worn to help manage swelling and promote healing. Most patients feel ready to return to work and non-strenuous activities within a few days, though it’s advised to avoid vigorous exercise or heavy lifting for several weeks. Initial results become visible as swelling begins to subside around one week after the procedure, and final results typically emerge over the course of a few months. Because the incisions for the cannula are so small, scars are generally minimal and nearly imperceptible. With proper maintenance, the results of liposuction can be long-lasting, allowing you to enjoy your enhanced contours for years to come.
